National Milk Drug Residue Database

System Requirements

The following are the system requirements for the National Milk Drug Residue Database System:
  1. A 32-bit operating system - Windows 95, 98, or NT4. It has not been tested with Windows 2000.
  2. Eight (8)MB free disk space for installation.
  3. The program may be installed on a network, however it has not been tested for multiple user access during add or edit.

Installation

Insert the CD into your computer and choose Start, Run, and browse the CD drive for Setup.EXE.

You will see a window with the default directory of C:\Program Files\NMDRD, click Finish to begin the install. A program group will be created on the start menu with the program icon and the help system. If you are upgrading from the DOS version, do NOT install this program to the DOS version's directory.

This installation does not make changes to the Windows Registry or add any files to the Windows\System folder. NOTE: if you install to a network you should not install to workstations, just create a desktop icon.

Start the program from Start, Programs, National Milk Drug Residue Program, NMDRD. You will be prompted to Import existing data, Setup for new data, or Cancel.

If you choose import existing data, go to Upgrade DOS version below.

If you choose setup for new data you will go directly to the Setup screen. You will enter your state code, state, name and phone number. This is the information that is automatically filled into each report submitted to the national database.

If you choose cancel the program will exit and when you start it again you will be prompted to Import existing data, Setup for new data, or Cancel.

Upgrade DOS version

You will be prompted for the folder that contains the DOS version. After choosing that folder and the file StateRep.dbf, the program will import all existing data including the archives and setup information. You are ready to add new data into the new version. The DOS version will still reside on your hard drive and you may delete it after you have verified all data have been imported correctly.

Uninstall

You may uninstall by deleting the C:\Program Files\NMDRD folder from your hard drive.

Note: if you installed to a folder other than the default you would delete that folder.
